Sales Representative
This position reports to and works under the direction of the Medical Education Division GM and Senior Production Manager. Initial responsibilities for the new sales representative will include meeting specific annual sales goals for medical eLearning products and services.
Duties include lead generation, direct sales activity, proposal preparation, contact management and administration, gathering of competitive intelligence and some marketing. Experience in this exact field and/or medical background is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will bring energy, experience, the ability to close new business, and the ability to work well with others. This position is very fast paced and diverse. Compensation is a combination of salary and sales commissions, based on the applicant’s prior experience and performance. A great opportunity for growth.
A strong preference is for the candidate to be located from the Midwest eastward. There is an office in Cleveland, but the candidate will work from home and travel from their home base.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attaining specific quarterly and annual Sales targets to meet overall Company Sales goals, maintaining profitable project pricing, developing new clients and managing existing client accounts successfully. The position requires on-going domestic travel within the USA, and could include International travel from time to time.
- Generate leads, identify and qualify prospects
- Research and identify companies and assess opportunity
- Identify contacts within the companies
- Do initial telephone introductions and product demonstrations
- Document sales process in ACT! and cooperate with others to generate final sale.
- Lead the proposal preparation (response to RFP’s) process
- Participate in proposal strategy, status and follow-up meetings and provide accurate and clear documentation of relevant decisions
- Contribute to writing, editing and delivering clear, concise and consistent proposals
- Ensure that all client requirements and guidelines for responding to RFP’s are met and adhered to by proposals and delivered on time.
- Organize, standardize and centralize proposal information and publication for continuous improvement of proposal template(s).
- Interact with management, sales and business development to maintain, manage and update information in the company’s ACT! database
- Leverage ACT! application to improve performance of lead generation management and reporting
- Provide field feedback for the development of Marketing materials to enhance client communications while helping the organization better understand and meet the needs of its customers.
- Provide competitive intelligence to understand key market players, competitive positioning, geographic market penetration potential, opportunistic market and business events, regulatory policies and their influence on the market, as well as identifying novel approaches to engage and secure new business
Administrative duties will include:
- Coordination of Sales meetings and agendas, including personal travel arrangements
- Fill customers' requests for general company information and materials
- Support for executive management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven track record of Sales in a similar educational web-based content sales environment
- Ability to sell quality solutions at quoted prices without the routine use of discounts to close new business
- Ability to travel extensively as needed.
- Self-motivated professional with strong organizational skills to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects/tasks with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with the Internet and comfort in doing Internet-based research
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both in-person and over the phone
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex ideas into clear, concise and compelling descriptions and the ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes
- Structured approach to problem solving and ability to meet new challenges with an open mind and an optimistic response
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Comfortable learning new programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related area
- 3-5 years experience in business-to-business direct sales
- Medical knowledge or background highly desirable
- Experience in the learning/training and/or Internet industry is desirable
- Multi-media experience valued
